Mel is an active parent at South Shore Charter Public School (SSCPS) in Norwell, MA. This actually allowed many Haitian children to return to school as they needed to have shoes on their feet. Mel is active in the arts and is an active member of both the South Shore Arts Center in Cohasset, MA as well as the Hingham Conservatory where her daughter attends classes at both.

Mel is an active member of the Plymouth and South Shore Association of Realtors® (PASS); the Massachusetts Association of Realtors® (MAR) and the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) and also holds active membership in the National Association for Professional Women (NAPW); the Boston Society of Architects (BSA); and for many years has been a active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).  Mel is a Past President of the Board of Directors for the Technology Children´s Center on the MIT campus - a small school serving the children of the MIT community.
